Scholarship Program

The Rocky Mountain Chapter has established a program of awarding scholarships to area engineering students since our inception in 1996. In 2008 we added a new program to attract students in technical programs at the region's community colleges.

The chapter had an unprecedented year in 2009 and awarded a total of $24,000 to a very talented pool of students. The Chapter awarded nine $ 1,000.00 scholarships to area community colleges, along with four $ 3,000 and two $ 1,500 scholarships to area universities. We gratefully appreciate the support members have shown for all of the following activities which help support this endeavor:

  • membership dues
  • attendance at quarterly meetings
  • participation in golf tournaments
  • participation in ski outings on the Winter Park ski train
  • participation in clay shooting

The Chapter has established specific guidelines for selecting recipients of the Rocky Mountain GPA scholarships. These guidelines are that a student:

  • has a sincere financial need
  • has demonstrated an interest in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • is maintaining a B or better GPA
  • is working to aid in his or her own education
  • has reached the third year at the University or has completed their first semester of their two year technical program
  • submits an essay to the Scholarship Committee addressing these issues

Our Chapter awarded $24,000 in scholarships to these recipients in 2009.
